Ikebana – The Japanese art of flower arranging
Japan's deep communion with nature in the form of flowers, wild plants and trees is apparent even in the earliest of Japanese writings. It is unknown how Ikebana first started but it first appears in the Muromachi Period (from the late fourteenth century to the mid sixteenth century) and has been a muse for numerous Japanese artists. Today, Ikebana remains as one of the most important forms of art in Japanese culture.
