Art Exhibition:
MABOROSHI – ARTIST VISION OF IKEBANA
Maboroshi highlights ink calligraphy and Japanese watercolour works of Teshigahara Sofu (1900-1979), who was born into an important family of Ikebana. Teshigahara's ambition transformed the post-war art scene in Japan and made himself one of the most important Japanese avant-garde artists. He was known for bringing new life to traditions and his most influential art – Ikebana while expressing himself through sculptures, calligraphy and Japanese watercolour works.
We are excited to partner with J 12 contemporary art by jason and present photographic works of award-winning artist, Yoichiro Nishimura (b. 1967) at this exhibition. Nishimura’s Life series is an experiment he has done over years capturing the beauty of his own Ikebana. He captures and expresses the flowers’ elegance through his works, where his emotions and values resonate describing the balance between life and death, light and dark, and the Chinese principle of yin and yang. Besides, Nishimura’s award-winning Blue Flower series is an eight-year abstract of his daily encounters. He sometimes describes this series as “flowers of the shadow” and is popular among his followers and collectors both in the East and West.
Exhibition will open on Thursday, 7 July at 6:30 pm and run until 8 August 2022.
